Anti-Bullying Policy - Simsbury Youth Lacrosse
Introduction: Simsbury Youth Lacrosse is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for
all participants, including players, coaches, parents, and spectators. Bullying, in any form, is not
tolerated within our organization. We believe that every individual has the right to participate in
lacrosse free from intimidation, harassment, or abuse. This policy outlines what constitutes bullying and
the consequences for engaging in such behavior.
Definition of Bullying: Bullying is defined as any deliberate, hurtful behavior, repeated over time, that
involves a power imbalance. It can take various forms, including physical, verbal, social, or cyberbullying.
Examples of bullying behavior include but are not limited to:
1. Physical bullying: Hitting, kicking, pushing, or any form of physical aggression.
2. Verbal bullying: Name-calling, teasing, taunting, or making threats.
3. Social bullying: Excluding someone from a group, spreading rumors or gossip, or damaging
someone's reputation.
4. Cyberbullying: Using electronic devices or social media platforms to harass, intimidate, or
humiliate others.
Consequences of Bullying: Simsbury Youth Lacrosse takes reports of bullying seriously and will respond
promptly and appropriately to all allegations. Consequences for engaging in bullying behavior may
include but are not limited to:
1. Verbal warning: The individual engaging in bullying behavior will receive a verbal warning from a
coach or designated official.
2. Written warning: If the behavior persists, the individual may receive a written warning outlining
the consequences of further incidents.
3. Suspension: In more severe cases, the individual may be suspended from participating in
lacrosse activities for a specified period.
4. Expulsion: Continued acts of bullying may result in expulsion from Simsbury Youth Lacrosse,
with no opportunity for reinstatement.
Reporting Procedures: It is essential for all members of Simsbury Youth Lacrosse to report any instances
of bullying immediately. Reports can be made to coaches and directors. All reports will be handled with
confidentiality and sensitivity. No individual will face retaliation for reporting bullying.
Support and Resources: Simsbury Youth Lacrosse is committed to providing support to both victims and
perpetrators of bullying. Victims will be provided with appropriate support services, and perpetrators
will be offered counseling and guidance to address their behavior and prevent future incidents.
